Quote of the Week 3/2/14

river springThe image used to display this week’s quote is a picture of one of my favorite places in the world. The picture was taken this past weekend at Weeki Wachee Springs, where the water is cool and clear and the civilized world feels like a distant memory (if you’re ever in Florida, skip Disney World and go here instead). It’s a great escape, which is sometimes exactly what is needed to restore the harmony missing from life. The truth of the matter is, the ‘harmony between a man and the life he leads’ is a lot easier to achieve when making progress toward personal goals and indulging in activities that I consider enjoyable. The less enjoyable things in life are often what seem to inhibit happiness, but they’re also usually the necessary things that make the pursuit of happiness possible. Despite what some may teach, I’ve found that it is damn near impossible to be happy in every situation that life throws at me; it’s just not plausible. However, I can cultivate happiness by leading a life that I consider honorable and worthwhile, and by leading myself away from the negative forces that disrupt my happiness whenever possible.

  1. Wow that place looks beautiful! I wouldn’t mind jumping in those waters right about now. I like what you said about cultivating your own happiness, and nature is such an enjoyable way to do that. It’s amazing the difference a change of scenery can make.
